Rachel Teggarty, Hayley Homer, Karen Smeathers, Michelle Pyle and Bethany Hatch. Team name "Twickers Ladies".

All but one of our team are Forces wives with young families - our husbands are based at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall in Twickenham. All of the husbands have or will spend time serving on Operations, therefore they all feel the trust touches their hearts. We completed the Great South Run in Portsmouth, a 10 mile course!

The weather conditions were quite cold with very strong winds. On one hand the winds worked to our advantage, however running into the wind on the final 2 miles made the run extremely tough. There were thousands of runners, and our team managed to complete the run in under 2 hours, this was an amazing achievement for all ladies as we are all novices. Twickers Ladies have managed to raise a wonderful £1,808.21 (Just Giving website is owned by Michelle Pyle total currently is £1,758.21 - with a cheque for £50 to be added).

The monies raised have been from donations from family & friends, a very successful cake sale, and a Race Night and raffle held at Kneller Hall. The ladies are extremely grateful for all the generous donations and are overwhelmed with the money they have raised for the Forces Children's Trust. The Twickers Ladies felt running the Great South Run for the Forces Children's Trust was a true honour - "the race day was tough but the achievement was emence, and we are over the moon with our fund raising total". We would like to thank all our families for their devoted support.

Tadley Tigers RFC held their annual memorial match for Chris Bradshaw on Sunday 17th November. Nomination by Bilfinger Industrial Services: In recognition of being awarded winner of the one of the Large Contractor Workgroups of the Year 2012 Award, Bilfinger chose the Forces Children’s Trust. Some of the company managers are ex-forces. Also Billy McVicar’s old friends/comrades served in the forces and John Ferrand’s son also served in the Royal Engineers, so many personal ties to the nomination of this charity.

Steve Start charity representative explained the charity was set up by Denny Wise to close a gap in the support facility for those children who are either deeply affected by their loss of parents during their tour of duties or whose parent has sustained life-threatening injuries whilst serving. The Trust covers all service disciplines in the UK (RAF, Army & Navy). Forms of support vary from organising counselling sessions, outings & trips to Disneyland Florida. They were extremely grateful for this donation that will help towards funding the FCT Outward Bound courses, educational trips, the provision of laptop computers for those with educational difficulties such as dyslexia, holidays and trips to the theatre plus the annual Christmas Party.

Front Row L-R: Val & Alan Crosby (Grimsby Baby Care), Lynn Hawthorne (HSE Manager), Steve Start (Forces Children’s Trust), John Ferrand (Bilfinger Industrial Services) & Geoff Gladding (Construction Coordinator).

Service personnel should ensure that the State Schools, Free Schools and Academies in England that their children attend are informed of their Service status before the annual school census which is due to take place on the 16th January 2014.

Denny Wise, founder of the Forces Children's Trust, organised an FCT Outward - Bound trip in August in the Lake District. He took around 30 children up to Ullswater, for a fun-filled, action packed week of activities! Each one of these children have lost a parent in the forces, including myself, Georgina Chapman aged 15.
