On the weekend of 25th -26th November 2006 we organised our first outing, the party of 43 consisting of Army widows and children visited London for a children's fun weekend sponsored by the Forces Children's Trust.
Enjoying a visit to the theatre to see Mary Poppins, the children were thrilled at the end of the performance when Mary Poppins (Scarlet Strallen) and Bert - the sweep (Gavin Lee) came to meet them and pose for photographs.
After the show all went along to Planet Hollywood for a noisy relaxed meal, where the children were able to get to interact with each other and for perhaps the first time in their young lives they realised that they were not the only ones who had lost their Daddy.
After the very hectic day the mothers and children returned to the Victory Services Club and we were made to feel very welcome by the members, the children certainly changed the atmosphere in the bar!
They all slept very well on that evening. The chairman Mr. Denny Wise would like to thank Mr. Steve Telling of Tellings Golden Miller Coaches, for providing a wonderful coach free of charge.
