2nd Training Weekend – Snowdon Mountain

The second training weekend can only be summed up as eventful. We all arrived at the Snowdon Visitors centre and set off down the PYG track at 3.20pm hoping to go up and down in 4 hours.

(from left to right) Kerry-Ann, Debs, David, Ian, Geoff, James, Andy

We set off at a good pace and although cold, everyone was in good spirits and looking forward to the task ahead (well most of us were anyway). We made it to the top in 2 hours 32 minutes which was good going considering the snow we encountered on the way up.

Geoff agreed to wait for Kerry-Ann and David and so the members from ATIL set off down the PYG track to ensure we reached our target time. Debs unfortunately was given instructions by Geoff on how to get back down and was sent down the railway track rather than the PYG track with the ATIL group.

The members from ATIL made it down at 7pm and so completed the challenge in 3 hours 40 minutes. We then arranged for Debs to be picked up as she was at the train station 10 miles away from the car park where she should have ended up (well done Geoff).

All who attended the weekend completed the challenge except for Andy’s car which had to be carried away by the AA.

David, Kerry-Ann and Andy’s car have decided not to undertake the 3 peaks challenge in May and so the team will be Geoff Murray, Debs Barron, Sarah Gerken, Ian Munday, Andy Slade and James Nelson.
